Scheinder National posted revenues of $3.7 billion in 2008, compared to $3.4 billion in 2007, the company said Thursday.
The company achieved its earnings plan in 2008, it said in a statement, and continued a 74-year record of positive financial results.
The privately-held truckload carrier warned that though it had a strong year, the market is still in recession and will continue to be.
“There’s no doubt that these market conditions are some of the most difficult we’ve seen in decades,” CFO John Brenholt said.
Earlier this week, Schneider announced that it would freeze pay for all employees, in addition to deferring funding for retirement plans and 401(k) matches for 2009.
Schneider, which also has intermodal and logistics operations, is ranked No. 9 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
