Senate Set to Vote on Foxx DOT Nomination This Week

The Senate is likely to hold a confirmation vote this week on Anthony Foxx to lead the Department of Transportation, The Hill newspaper reported.

Democrats and Republicans reached an agreement to vote on President Obama’s choice of the Charlotte, N.C., mayor to succeed Ray LaHood at DOT, the newspaper reported, citing a Senate aide.

Foxx had a generally positive reception by the Senate Commerce Committee last month, which sent his nomination to the full Senate two weeks ago.

At his confirmation hearing, Foxx told the committee his priorities at DOT would be safety, increasing transportation efficiency and boosting infrastructure development.

LaHood is scheduled to make his farewell remarks as Transportation Secretary on Thursday at the National Press Club in Washington.
