Sinotruk’s First-Quarter Sales Rise

Sinotruk (Hong Kong) Ltd., China’s biggest heavy-truck maker, said its sales rose “significantly” this quarter after higher government spending on infrastructure spurred demand, Bloomberg reported Thursday.

China’s 4 trillion yuan, or $586 billion, government stimulus package bolstered demand for commercial vehicles, which helped Sinotruk’s net income to rise 10% to 965 million yuan, or about $141 million, last year.

The full-year outlook for 2010 may be affected by changes in government policy and potential higher inflation, Bloomberg reported.

Sinotruk will start selling buses this year to improve profitability, Bloomberg said, citing the company.
