Sirva Acquires Amsterdam-Based Team Relocations

Sirva Inc.’s first move since being acquired by the private equity investment firm Madison Dearborn Partners is to expand its moving and storage business in Europe with the purchase of Team Relocations, a relocation and move management company based in Amsterdam.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The addition of Team Relocations will more than double the size of Sirva’s business in Europe, bringing more than 320 employees and offices in the Netherlands, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland and Czech Republic, plus a service center in Malaysia.

“This move immediately makes Sirva the leader in Europe,” said Yogesh Mehta, co-founder and chairman of Team Relocations. “Clients will now have access to a broader, global support system and seamless service delivery.”

Richard Post will take over for Mehta as group managing director and will lead the business moving forward, according to an Aug. 3 statement from Sirva.

Sirva, which is based in Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., is a holding company for Allied Van Lines and North American Van Lines in the United States, Allied Pickfords in the U.K. and Smartbox Solutions, a container shipping service. The company ranks No. 26 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of largest for-hire carriers in North America and No. 2 on the TT list of largest for-hire carriers in the household goods/commercial delivery sector.
