SkyBitz has introduced a tracking device for equipment used in oil and gas applications.
The company said its Galaxy GTP4050 device enables businesses hauling hazardous materials and operating in remote locations to track their trailers, frac tanks and other equipment.
The device is designed to report the location and status of assets anywhere in the world via satellite services from Iridium Communications Inc., SkyBitz said.
It also offers two-way satellite communication, enabling businesses to configure the device over-the-air.
“We identified a need in the oil and gas industry to be able to change device reporting in order to get better actionable information on equipment and assets that also require intrinsic safety,” said Henry Popplewell, president of SkyBitz.
