Software Could Help Shippers Get Refunds for Late Deliveries

Guaranteeing on-time delivery is easy for carriers when shippers don’t demand refunds for missed targets.

But a new software product marketed by SJ Consulting Group in Pittsburgh could drastically increase the amount of money carriers will have to return to shippers for late deliveries.

ShipRefund.com automatically tracks shipments and determines whether the carrier met its commitment to deliver the package on time. It then generates refund requests that can be filed with the carrier.

The product is due on the market in early November, and SJ Consulting says frequent shippers could recover “hundreds of thousands of dollars in shipping costs each year.” The software will match service commitments with publicly available tracking information from carriers’ Web sites and sift through delivery records to find packages for which the service commitment was not met.
