Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has placed a Colorado-based trucking company out of service, labeling the firm an “imminent hazard to public safety,” the agency said Feb. 18.
The order aimed at auto hauler Sorbon Transport Inc., of Aurora, was signed Feb. 12 by Terry Wolf an FMCSA field administrator in Lakewood. Wolf’s order lists Sorbon’s fleet as consisting of a 2007 model year tractor and two auto hauler rigs, from 1997 and 1998.
The carrier is not in compliance with federal safety regulations on maintenance and driver hours of service, the order said. Events leading to the OOS order began Feb. 9 with an FMCSA investigation of the carrier. The order said the company did not comply fully with the process.
The order said owner Jovidon Sorbon started the firm in or around April 2014 and that he has owned two other auto hauler carriers since 2013.
Sorbon Transport would be allowed to operate again, the order said, if it completes a nine-step process.
Contacted by telephone Feb. 18, Sorbon said he was unaware his company had been placed out of service and offered no comment beyond that.
