Talbert Manufacturing Inc. announced its updated 5553TA traveling axle trailer with a revised design, aimed at the rental, towing and recovery operations as well as general construction segments.
It has a planetary winch and Talbert’s redesigned piggyback cylinder for over 25% more power to move axles in adverse conditions, and the 55-ton 5553TA excels in moving low-clearance and dead loads.
An industry-leading 36-inch loaded deck height and low 6-degree load angle provide safe, efficient loading and unloading, according to the Rensselaer, Ind.-based company, which specializes in heavy-haul solutions.

“The 5553TA brings our signature durability and versatility to a number of industries where these attributes are key to safety and success,” Troy Geisler, vice president of sales at Talbert, said in a release.
The 5553TA comes standard with a 20,000-pound planetary winch that uses a direct-drive system. The winch is controlled with a six-function wireless remote, allowing a single operator to adjust the movement of the axles, winch and deck height from any position around the trailer — including from behind the wheel of inoperable vehicles or machinery being loaded.
The remote also allows operation from the offside of the trailer, limiting exposure to traffic and increasing safety. The remote is rechargeable through a USB port, and features a range of well over 200 feet. — Transport Topics
