TCA Urges Training Certified By PTDI

The Truckload Carriers Association passed a resolution encouraging members to hire drivers who have passed training courses certified by TCA’s Professional Truck Driver Institute.

The resolution further encourages members to ensure that the schools they hire from offer entry level classes certified by PTDI.

The institute sets standards for driver training. For-profit and not-for-profit driving schools can request review of their courses by PTDI for content, instructor-student ratio and number of hours of hands-on-the-wheel instruction. If a course meets PTDI standards, the institute will certify that course. TCA wants trucking companies to hire graduates only of driving schools approved by the institute for their quality and consistency of instruction.
