Texas Eyes Bridge Improvements

Texas transportation officials want to make more funds available to fix the thousands of bridges in the state that are considered not structurally sound enough to carry heavy vehicles.

The Texas Transportation Commission gave preliminary approval to a plan that would triple the number of deficient bridges upgraded each year.

The commission approved the plan May 25, but the proposal will not be official until after a public comment period and another commission vote.
