Thermo King Previews ‘Precedent’ Units

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — Thermo King said it will offer a new line of trailer transport refrigeration units in January that took $60 million and three years to develop.

In an Aug. 9 announcement here at company headquarters, Thermo King said the new “Precedent” platform will be compliant with 2013 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board emissions regulations.

“The innovative Precedent platform and new truck and [auxiliary power unit] solutions provide our customers with the peace of mind that they have met regulatory requirements while delivering leading performance, significant fuel savings and lower life cycle costs — all tested under real-world conditions,” said Ray Pittard, president of Thermo King North America

The company showcased its S-600 single-temperature unit and S-700 high-capacity single-temperature evergreen units. Both products offer greater-than-25 horsepower.

Thermo King said its C-600 less-than-25 horsepower unit will allow for seven years of service in California. It said the new T-Series 2013 refrigeration units for straight truck applications also will meet EPA rules and deliver up to 30% fuel use reduction. The Tri-Pack Evolution APU will lower fuel consumption

and cut emissions, Thermo King said.

Brandon Pugh, president of Thermo King Northwest, called the new offerings “the biggest launch in the history of Thermo King.”
