TAMPA, Fla. — Jerry Thrift of Ryder System, Miami, was installed as chairman of the Technology & Maintenance Council of American Trucking Associations during the group’s meeting here Feb. 11.
Thrift, Ryder’s senior manager of new product development, succeeds Steph Sabo, maintenance manager of Norrenberns Truck Service, Nashville, Ill.
TMC also said Thrift will be assisted by new vice chairman, Roy Gambrell, director of maintenance for Truck It Inc., Cottontown, Tenn.
The group also announced four new winners of its Silver Spark Plug award for contributions to the profession and the organization.
The two fleet winners were Carl Tapp, vice president of maintenance for P.A.M. Transportation Services, and Douglas White, maintenance vice president of Dunbar Armored, Hunt Valley, Md.
The two winners from suppliers were Vince Lindley, manager of national account fleet service for Mack Trucks and Volvo Trucks, and Roger Maye, national service manager of Consolidated Metco Inc., Monroe, N.C.
