TMC Fall Meeting Set for September

The role of engine oil in fuel efficiency, maintenance challenges for intermodal operations, disaster recovery planning, and coatings for corrosion protection are among the topics on the wide-ranging agenda for the fall meeting of the Technology and Maintenance Council of American Trucking Associations.

The TMC meeting will take place Sept. 17-22 at the Raleigh Convention Center in Raleigh, N.C.

Also on the schedule is the return of the SuperTech technicians’ skills challenge.

TMC comprises various study groups and committees that address different areas of truck and trailer maintenance.

The group that studies engines will explore how different types of engine oil affect fuel mileage, while the group that focuses on trailers, bodies and materials handling will meet to discuss equipment and maintenance needs for intermodal operations.

The fleet maintenance management group will explore disaster recovery planning for fleet maintenance operations.

Coatings available for corrosion protection will be reviewed by the committee that reviews corrosion control.

Also on tap is the annual TMC SuperTech challenge, which tests truck technicians’ skills in diagnostics and repair.
