TMC Group Says Onboard Recorder Rule May Be Costly
Seeks Clarification of Several Provisions

TAMPA, Fla. — A Technology & Maintenance Council task force said several provisions of the proposed federal requirement for electronic onboard recorders need clarification, and the rule’s required data-display equipment could be a costly and ineffective expense for trucking companies.“In some cases, there is ambiguity in the rule and in some cases, there is a need for more definition in the rule, so this is a list of our concerns,” said David Kraft, chairman of the task force TMC established to recommend practices for EOBRs.He spoke last week during TMC’s annual meeting here.For the full story, see the Feb. 12 print edition of Transport Topics.
