Trailer Bridge Appoints New CEO

Trucking and intermodal firm Trailer Bridge Inc. said Thursday it has appointed Ivy Barton Suter its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.

Suter, 55, succeeds Ralph Heim, who served as interim CEO since December and who will remain president and chief operating officer.

Suter has more than 20 years of executive experience in a variety of industries, including marine, shipping and intermodal operations, most recently serving since 2006 as managing director of Alvarez & Marsal, a privately held global services firm.

Trailer Bridge also said that the “positive operating trends that impacted results for the second quarter” have continued into the third quarter. Volumes and capacity utilization increased in July and August over the first and second quarter.

After posting a first-quarter loss, the company posted a modest profit in the second quarter.

Trailer Bridge provides integrated trucking, intermodal and marine freight services, including its core twice-weekly service to Puerto Rico.
