Trailer Bridge to Expand Dominican Republic Service

Trailer Bridge said that it will double the frequency of its sailings to the Dominican Republic, introducing weekly service to the route.

The route, which currently sails every two weeks, links ports in Jacksonville, Fla.; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.

Trailer Bridge will use ships that currently serve the route when it expands service later this month. The ocean carrier has served the Dominican Republic since August 2007.

Trailer Bridge planned the service expansion to the Dominican Republic before this month’s earthquake in neighboring Haiti. The company said that it is working with government and private officials to use its ships in relief efforts.
