TransForce Reports Lower 2Q Income

Canadian transportation firm TransForce Inc. said its second-quarter net income fell to C$18 million, or 21 cents a share, from C$19.3 million, or 22 cents, a year ago.

Revenue fell to C$454 million, from C$596 million a year earlier, TransForce said Thursday.

“The economic environment continues to be challenging, with lagging demand,” said Alain Bédard, TransForce’s chief executive officer. “While we are cautiously optimistic that a bottom may have been reached, we cannot predict the speed of an overall economic recovery.”

TransForce Inc. is ranked No. 15 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
