Transportation Insight Acquires BirdDog Solutions

Transportation Insight, a transportation management firm based in Hickory, North Carolina, has purchased BirdDog Solutions, a company that provides parcel auditing and analytics for shippers.

Terms were not disclosed.

“Integrating the BirdDog Solutions organization into the Transportation Insight enterprise brings our clients more expertise, tools and technology,” Transportation Insight CEO Chris Baltz said.

The acquisition is part of a strategy by Transportation Insight to more than triple the size of its business over the next five years. The firm manages more than $4.6 billion in transportation spending for about 1,000 companies, including manufacturers, distributors and retailers.

The company provides sourcing of freight carriers and warehousing, freight payment and supply chain consulting services.

“With the infrastructure we now have in place,” Transportation Insight founder and Chairman Paul Thompson said, “we are well-positioned to become the logistics services provider of choice for companies relying on e-commerce as a critical delivery channel.”
