Truck Sales Up Slightly Despite Cuts

January Market Share
Total sales of Class 8 trucks in January were 16,539, compared with 16,526 a year earlier, according to Ward’s Communications, an analysis firm based in Southfield, Mich., and all but two major manufacturers reported increases over the previous year.

The biggest decline was at Volvo Trucks North America, which recorded a 66.3% drop, from 2,203 in January 1999 to 743 this year.
