Getting sick is unpleasant in the best of circumstances. But for a trucker far from home hauling a load that must be in the receiver’s hands by tomorrow morning, the experience can be especially grueling.
When on the road, a trucker does not have family to rely on and cannot go to a familiar doctor. In addition, even if he can find a local physician, there is probably no spare 70-foot parking place just waiting for the rig.
Though directories list many travel plazas with nearby hospitals, there are not many truck stops that can boast of on-site medical staff.
