NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Trucker Path is making it easier for commercial truck drivers to combat human trafficking with a new reporting function in its widely used driver routing and trip planning mobile app.

The company has added this new reporting feature through a partnership with TAT, formerly known as Truckers Against Trafficking.

Trucker Path also provided an update on its collaboration with American Trucking AssociationsWomen In Motion Council to provide users with information on truck stops that have key amenities for female drivers.

Trucker Path made the announcements during an Oct. 13 news conference at ATA’s 2024 Management Conference & Exhibition.

“We are proud to be able to use our platform to help TAT reach the 1 million professional truck drivers who use the Trucker Path app,” said Chris Oliver, chief marketing officer at Trucker Path. “Spreading the word about their mission aligns perfectly with our goal of being a conduit for information from great organizations like TAT and WIM.”

The new TAT reporting function within Trucker Path connects app users with local human trafficking tip lines and a national trafficking hotline as well as 911 for emergency situations.

TAT’s mission is to educate and empower workers in key industries like transportation to recognize and report human trafficking.

“The more truck drivers we can educate on what to look for and how to report an incident, the greater our chances of disrupting human trafficking,” said Esther Goetsch, TAT’s executive director. “When truckers — and others in transportation — find themselves in the right place at the right time and are empowered to know the right way to respond in the moment, not only can trafficking be reported, but lives can be changed and saved.”

Meanwhile, Trucker Path’s partnership with WIM is enabling users of the app to locate truck stops with amenities that female drivers have identified as necessities, including lighted parking, lounge areas, showers, bathrooms, laundry facilities and around-the-clock security and maintenance.

Trucker Path said 320 truck stops qualify as having at least one of those amenities, while 18 have all seven.

“The ability of the Trucker Path app to search for WIM-friendly truck stops makes the roads safer for female drivers and helps us recruit the next generation of drivers that our industry so desperately needs,” said Nikki Thomas, ATA’s vice president of industry affairs.

The Trucker Path app, used on a regular basis by more than 1 million truck drivers, offers truck-safe navigation and routing, along with information about truck stops, parking availability, fuel prices, weigh station statuses and truck scale and wash locations.
