UPS to Build Technology Center in New Jersey
UPS Inc. announced plans to build a technology center in New Jersey to consolidate its software development for domestic and global shipments.
The location in Parsippany is slated for opening in mid-2017 on a 20-acre site with a 200,000-square-foot building for a staff of 1,000.
Workers at the current location in Paramus, New Jersey, have developed software such as My Choice for customers’ delivery options, World Ship and Tracking. In addition, employees have helped to develop package-flow technology to enhance sorting and delivery services.
“This new facility will provide a collaborative setting for the creative team developing the UPS technology of tomorrow,” said Dave Barnes, chief information officer at UPS, which spends about $1 billion annually on technology.
UPS ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
