UPS Freight’s Russell Atkin Eyes Second Straight Utah Grand Champion Title
Will it be twice as nice for Russell Atkin at the Utah Trucking Driving Championships?
Atkin
The UPS Freight driver will be aiming for his second consecutive Tank Truck crown (and trip to the National Truck Driving Championships) at the state event May 31- June 1.
Some 150 drivers are scheduled to compete at the 50-acre Utah State Fairpark in Salt Lake City, where the event has been held for more than 30 years.
Atkin may be the defending Tanker and Grand Champion, but he won’t be the only one in the spotlight.

Adams (Straight Truck), Payne (Twins) and Grygla (Sleeper Berth) claimed victories in their respective divisions last year and earned trips to the National Truck Driving Championships in Columbus, Ohio.
This year, nationals will be in Pittsburgh on Aug. 14-17.
Being that the event’s focus is safety, the Utah Safety Management Council has been sponsoring the UTDC for more than 50 years.
