UPS Inc. announced that it is expanding package delivery service into the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Asia, Europe and Africa to reach a total of 117 countries and national territories. The parcel carrier already added UPS Worldwide Express service in 52 countries and territories this year, according to a company release.

“With this latest expansion, the coverage area totals 117 countries, which comprise nearly 95% of the global gross domestic product and 96% of real imports,” UPS International President Jim Barber said.

The Atlanta-based company, which ranks No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers, also offers Express Plus service to 27 countries and the slower, less expensive Express Saver service to 220 countries and territories.

The company highlighted the Dominican Republic, Albania and Myanmar as new locations in the latest expansion.

Albania joins Armenia, Belarus, Cyprus, Georgia, Serbia and the Ukraine as new European countries that will receive the service, which the company says is part of a $2 billion investment in European operations through 2019.

Myanmar is one of nearly a dozen countries in the Asia-Pacific to get new service. Other countries that are part of the expansion include Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Colombia.
