UPS Opens Two Distribution Centers in China
UPS Inc. said Tuesday it has opened two new distribution centers in China, increasing access to developing rural and urban areas.
The logistics facilities located in Chengdu and Shanghai were built to support the high-tech, industrial manufacturing, aerospace and retail industries.
According to UPS, the facilities are part of its commitment to serving China’s emerging middle class and are a major part of its efforts to develop a national distribution network.
“UPS is committed to supporting emerging market demand and helping customers expand into new markets in China,” UPS International President Jim Barber said in a statement.
“Expansion efforts, such as the opening of these two facilities, will bring unmatched resources to our customers looking for a national distribution platform in China,” he said.
The Shanghai facility has 70,000 square feet of distribution space and is less than two miles from the UPS’ international hub at Shanghai’s Pudong Airport.
The Chengdu facility has 47,000 square feet of warehousing and distribution space and is close to major interstate roads, putting two-thirds of China's Southwest population within a day’s drive, according to UPS.
UPS is ranked No. 1 on the Transport Topics Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
