UPS Sets 4.9% Average Rate Hike for 2010

UPS Inc. will raise its 2010 rates for ground packages by an average 4.9%.

The carrier also set an average 4.9% hike on air express and U.S.-origin international shipments.

The new rates take effect Jan. 4, UPS said late Friday, adding that its fuel surcharge tables for air express and ground services will be adjusted.

The air-rate increase is set on a 6.9%, minus a 2% reduction in the air and international fuel surcharge index.



The company said updated rate and service information will be posted on its www.ups.com/rates Web site beginning Friday, and beginning Dec. 18 customers will be able download its 2010 Rate and Service Guide.
