USA Truck Reports $1.6 Million 4Q Loss

Truckload carrier USA Truck said Thursday it lost $1.6 million in the fourth quarter, due to a “challenging freight environment.”

The company reported it lost $1.6 million, or 15 cents a share, compared with earning $1.2 million, or 11 cents, for the fourth quarter of 2006

For the full year, USA Truck earned $140,000, or 1 cent per share, down from $12.4 million, or $1.08 per share, the previous year.

Base fourth-quarter revenue rose 3.8% to $95.7 million, while revenue for the full year gained 1.5% to $391.2 million.

“A challenging freight environment characterized by the continued imbalance between freight demand and industry capacity constrained revenue volume,” Chief Executive Officer Cliff Beckham said in a statement.

USA Truck is ranked No. 57 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
