Vitran Corp. said late Wednesday its first-quarter profit fell to $1.1 million, or 8 cents a share, from $3.4 million, or 25 cents, a year earlier.
The Toronto-based transportation firm’s revenue rose 15.2% to $177.5 million.
Vitran has truckload, less-than-truckload and logistics operations in the United States and Canada.
LTL segment operating income fell to $2.1 million, from $6.2 million a year ago. Logistics operating income rose to $720,000, from $440,000, while truckload operating income rose to $379,000, from $295,000.
Vitran is ranked No. 53 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
