Volvo Chooses DEF Supplier

Volvo Trucks North America said that it has chosen Terra Environmental Technologies to supply its dealers with retail-size containers of diesel exhaust fluid and to put the company’s product in new Volvo trucks.

VTNA said in a statement Thursday that TET, a subsidiary of Terra Industries, is its preferred supplier of DEF for its engines with selective catalytic reduction technology.

The SCR technology, which Volvo will use to comply with Environmental Protection Agency emissions regulations starting in January 2010, will require trucks to refill with DEF every few refuelings, Volvo said.

DEF sales at dealers is one distribution channel EPA has mandated for the 2010 engine regulations, Volvo said. TET said that it is also involved in truckstop distribution.
