Volvo Trucks North America has named Bergey’s Truck Centers as its second certified electric vehicle dealership in New Jersey, the company announced Jan. 26.
Bergey’s Truck Centers is a fourth-generation, family-run dealership group with 17 locations. Its location in Trenton became the first to complete the necessary sales and service team training and facility upgrades to become a certified dealership.
“Fleets in the dense urban regions along the East Coast of the U.S. are increasingly recognizing that the battery-electric Volvo VNR Electric is ideally suited for their local and regional distribution routes,” Volvo Trucks North America President Peter Voorhoeve said. “We continue to expand our Volvo Trucks Certified EV dealership network to support fleets across North America to ensure they are choosing the right configuration of the Volvo VNR Electric for their own unique routes and doing so in the most cost-effective way, accessing all available grants and incentives.”
Bergey’s Truck Centers is prioritizing the certification process for areas with the most customer demand and available incentives. It currently has four other locations undergoing the certification process. Its locations also include Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
The Trenton location has two technicians who are trained to understand the proper safety procedures when servicing electric drivetrains and components. Sales representatives at the location have been trained to help customers identify and apply for public funding to offset purchase costs. The dealership also has made facility upgrades to have two service bays capable of serving electric trucks. — Transport Topics
