Volvo AB’s North American truck deliveries jumped 47% in October over the previous year, the company said Nov. 20.
Deliveries of the Volvo and Mack brands increased to 4,857, from 3,303 a year earlier, the Gothenberg, Sweden-based truck maker said in a statement.
Worldwide, deliveries grew 13%. The North American increase was followed by a 12% gain in Europe, 3% in Asia and a 6% drop in South America.
Volvo AB, the parent company of Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks, also makes the Eicher, UD Trucks and Renault Trucks brands.
North American Volvo-brand deliveries gained 34% year-over-year to 2,880, while Mack’s grew 83% to 1,931, Volvo said.
Year-to-date, Volvo Group North American deliveries are down 9% from a year ago, at 36,839.
Volvo said production rates in the first quarter of 2014 will be “adjusted” for its European operations. That is a response to lower demand, which the company said is due to customers having pre-bought trucks ahead of new emissions regulations that take effect in Europe on Jan. 1.
