Volvo’s October Deliveries Drop; Orders Show Improvement

Regional Decline Bests Global Downturn of 41%

Volvo AB said Wednesday its North American deliveries fell 28% in October from a year ago, but said orders rose from September.

North American sales for the month fell 1,755 units from 2,443 units a year ago, the Gothenberg, Sweden-based company said in a statement.

The majority of the truck operations noted an increase of deliveries in October from September, and for the Volvo Group in total the increase was 12% from the previous month, the company said.

Total truck unit sales worldwide fell 41% to 13,050 units from a year ago, led by a 70% decline in the Middle East and a 71% drop in Eastern Europe.



Volvo AB is the parent company of Volvo Trucks North America and Mack Trucks. It also includes the Renault, Nissan Diesel and Eicher truck brands.

The Volvo Trucks brand fell 50% worldwide and 39% in North America, while Mack Trucks sales fell 24% overall and just 10% in North America.
