Wabash to Lay Off 800 Workers Due to Slowdown

Wabash National Corp. said it will lay off 800 employees at its Lafayette, Ind., factory following a two-week holiday shutdown ending Jan. 5.

The trailer manufacturer cited decreased demand for its products, as a result of the “challenging economic period.”

Wabash said it expects to bring the 800 employees back to work in the second quarter of 2009.
