Trailer manufacturer Wabash National Corp. said its third-quarter income rose from a year ago as sales reached a record for the quarter.
Wabash earned $18.4 million, or 27 cents a share, up from $1.1 million, or 2 cents, in the same period last year. Sales rose to $406 million from $336 million.
Operating income rose to $27.2 million from $2.3 million last year, Wabash said
Wabash’s acquisition of bulk-trailer maker Walker Group Holdings in May boosted its sales, with Walker’s sales accounting for about $96 million in the period.
Wabash shipped about 12,200 new trailers in the quarter, in line with its guidance, CEO Dick Giromini said in a statement.
“While we anticipate an increase in customer deliveries during the fourth quarter, we have revised our 2012 full-year new trailer shipments estimate to be 46,000 to 48,000 units,” he said.
