Weekly Jobless Claims Fall by 1,000

Initial jobless claims fell last week to the lowest level in a month, the Labor Department said Thursday.

Claims declined 1,000 for the week ended Saturday, to 367,000, Labor said.

Economists had forecast 368,000 claims, Bloomberg reported.

The four-week moving average, a less volatile measure, fell to 379,000, from 384,250.



Continuing jobless claims for the previous week ended April 28 fell to 3.23 million, from 3.29 million a week earlier.
