Weigh-in-Motion Effort Gets Boost in Illinois

If time is money for truckers, then Illinois is helping them make a few dollars with the installation of 14 new weigh-in-motion systems.

The additional systems, which will be installed this year, will allow truckers to breeze through the state with fewer stops for inspections.

This is just the beginning of a program to expedite truck traffic in Illinois and other states, said Brian Taylor, senior technical director at International Road Dynamics.

Designed to “streamline the weighing of commercial vehicles,” Taylor said that trucking and state governments see value in the systems that will be open 24 hours a day.
