Werner’s First-Quarter Earnings Jump 50%

Werner Enterprises’ first-quarter earnings rose 50% on higher freight shipments.

Net income rose to $16.3 million, or 22 cents a share, from $10.8 million, or 15 cents, a year ago.

Revenue rose 10% to $469.4 million, while excluding fuel surcharges, revenue rose 4%.

Revenue per total mile was up 4.5% from the last year’s first quarter, the truckload carrier said late Wednesday.



Werner Enterprises is ranked No. 13 on the Transport Topics 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian for-hire carriers.
