Wright Express' Earnings Improve in Q2

Wright Express, which provides payment processing and information management services to the trucking industry, reported Tuesday it earned $18.3 million, or 45 cents a share in the second quarter, compared with $9.9 million or 24 cents in 2006.

Revenue rose to $86 million from $76.1 million in the previous second quarter, the company said in a statement.

Operating income for the quarter rose to $42.6 million from $32.5 million in the second quarter of 2006.

In addition, the company announced it has acquired TelaPoint, a Louisville, Ky., company that provides Web-based fuel-management software.
