Xata Reports 4Q Loss, Makes Acquisition

Transportation software firm Xata Corp. reported losses in its fourth fiscal quarter and fiscal year, and said it acquired a fleet operations software firm.

In the quarter ended Sept. 30, Xata lost $1.6 million, or 19 cents a share, compared with a $422,000 loss, or 5 cents, the previous year, it said Wednesday.

Revenue fell slightly, to $16.2 million in the quarter, compared with $17.7 last year. Xata acquired four new customers in the quarter, it said.

For fiscal 2009, the company lost $2.8 million, or 33 cents a share, compared with $3.6 million, or 44 cents, in 2008.



Revenue for the year grew to $65.3 million, from $53.7 million last year. The company gained 36 new customers in fiscal 2009.

Xata said Friday it acquired Turnpike Global Technologies for $20 million in cash and stock. The move will allow Xata to expand its market into small and medium-sized fleets.
