Xata Reports Smaller Loss in Fiscal 1Q

Transportation software firm Xata Corp. said it lost $120,000, or 1 cent per share, in its fiscal first quarter, compared with a loss of $1.7 million, or 20 cents, a year earlier.

Revenue dropped 20.2% in the fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31 to $14 million, with a 17% increase in software revenue to $11.3 million, the company said.

Gross margins grew to 60%, compared with 45% in the previous year.

Xata said it acquired 48 new customers in the quarter, bringing its customer count to about 1,500.
