Xata Corp. reported a fiscal second quarter loss of $2.1 million, or 20 cents per share, compared to a loss of $800,000, or seven cents, a year ago.
Revenue for the quarter ended March 31 slipped to $15.9 million, from $16.7 million a year earlier, the supplier of in-cab communications equipment and software said Thursday.
Software sales rose 3% to $11.7 million, fueled by 40% growth in Xata Turnpike. Software accounted for 74% of total revenue, up from 68% a year ago.
Xata said that it added 61 new customers in the quarter with the majority selecting its Xata Turnpike product.
Hardware systems sales fell to $3.6 million, from $4.9 million a year ago.
