XRS Corp. said it has started selling the NXT, a mobile trucking telematics tablet that uses the company’s software, a tablet from Samsung Telecommunications America and Verizon Wireless’ 4G data network.
XRS announced the dedicated device and the Samsung collaboration in August. The Oct. 8 statement revealed that the NXT is now available as a Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0, and uses Verizon’s network.
“Technology forces in the trucking industry have long been on converging paths, and our new NXT product ... is a perfect example of how our industry is harnessing the power of technology to benefit drivers and fleet managers,” Christian Schenk senior vice president of product and market strategy, said in the statement.
Like other devices running XRS software, the NXT can run applications for fleet management, messaging, truck inspections, logging and other purposes, XRS said.
