ZoomSafer Raises More Private Capital

ZoomSafer, a Reston, Va., company that makes software to prevent mobile-phone use by drivers behind the wheel, said it raised $1.1 million from White Birch Capital and SugarOak Holdings.

“This additional financing will enable us to strengthen our existing products, expand marketing and help more fleets to comply with regulations, reduce crashes and save money,” said Matthew Howard, CEO of ZoomSafer.

ZoomSafer has software that can be hosted either on mobile phones themselves or on remote computers that can monitor phone use.

ZoomSafer’s on-phone software will lock out Web browsing, texting and e-mail features when the vehicle in which the phone is traveling is moving.

The remote-hosted software monitors phone use by drivers so that fleet-management personnel can measure how often, and where, drivers on the road are using their phones.
