Tolling rates rose recently on three bridges connecting Louisville, Ky., and southern Indiana as part of an annual adjustment.

A toll-free ride across the Foley Beach Express Bridge in Orange Beach, Ala., will be a reality for the first time in more than 20 years now that the state has reached a deal to purchase the span.

It’s not clear yet if Pennsylvania drivers will pay $1 or $2 to cross major bridges, but Pennsylvania needs billions of dollars from somewhere for transportation, state Rep. Mike Carroll said.
