Major U.S. freight railroads reached tentative agreements Tuesday with five rail labor unions representing about 30,000 unionized employees, the National Carriers' Conference Committee said.

Diesel fuel’s national average price jumped 4 cents in the past week to $2.889 a gallon, the highest price since September, the Department of Energy said Monday.
