XIAMEN, China — The world’s largest maker of batteries for electric vehicles said Dec. 18 it will get into battery swapping in China in a big way starting next year.

BARCELONA, Spain — Chinese electric battery company CATL and automaker Stellantis will build a major battery factory in northern Spain, the partners announced Dec. 10.

CATL is in talks to establish battery recycling operations in Europe, adding to its footprint in the region as the company prepares to start cell production in Hungary.

CATL has in a short space of time become the world’s largest maker of electric car batteries. Now the Chinese company wants to dominate in trucks globally.
