Alcoa Forms New Unit for Commercial Wheels

Alcoa Inc. has created a division to focus on the commercial wheels business as part of a corporate realignment.

Transportation and Construction Solutions includes Wheel & Transportation Products and Alcoa Building & Construction Systems. José Drummond, Latin American regional president, will lead the unit.

“This realignment optimizes our organizational structure and expands our leadership capabilities to more rapidly capture profitable downstream growth,” Alcoa CEO Klaus Kleinfeld said in the statement.

Alcoa also formed a unit to concentrate on the aerospace market, the statement said. The Engineered Products and Solutions unit incorporates the recently announced acquisition of RTI International Metals, Firth Rixson and Tital to further serve aerospace customers.

That business also includes Titanium and Engineered products, Power and Propulsion, Forging and Extrusions as well as Fastening Systems and Rings. Its group president is Olivier Jarrault.
