Allied Holdings, Decatur, Ga., the bankrupt parent of auto hauler Allied Automotive Group, on Friday said it named Mark Gendregske, the former head of Vector SCM, its new chief executive officer.
Gendregske will also become the new director of Allied Automotive, the company said in a statement.
Prior to his appointment as head of Allied, Gendregske was president of Vector SCM, a supply chain management firm formed as a joint venture between Menlo Worldwide Logistics, the supply chain arm of less-than-truckload carrier Conway Inc., San Mateo, Calif., and General Motors. General Motors purchased Conway’s stake in the Vector SCM joint venture in June 2006.
Before Vector, Gendregske spent 20 years with DaimlerChrysler.
Gendregske replaces Hugh Sawyer, who left the Allied as part of the company’s reorganization plan.
On May 18, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Georgia approved the Allied’s reorganization plan, clearing the way for Gendregske’s appointment. The company filed for Chapter 11 protection in 2005.
Allied ranks No. 27 on the Transport Topics 100 list of the largest U.S. and Canadia for-hire carriers.
