Amazon to Hire 5,000 Workers at Its Distribution Centers

Amazon.com plans to hire about 5,000 workers for its distribution centers, the Associated Press reported Monday.

The online retailer has been spending heavily on order fulfillment to improve its business but the spending has weighed on its profit margins, with the company reporting a second-quarter loss, AP said.

Amazon, which employs about 20,000 workers who pack and ship customer orders, said it is also adding 2,000 customer service positions, including full-time, part-time and seasonal jobs.
