American Trans-Freight Buys Redwood TL

American Trans-Freight has purchased the truckload division of Redwood Systems, a contract logistics unit of Consolidated Freightways Corp.

The deal, sealed on May 10, is expected to boost annual revenue for ATF into the $100-million range and expand the company’s agent base to more than 80 locations in the United States, company officials said. Terms were not disclosed.

Redwood Systems General Manager Einar Gustavson said the sale of the trucking operations should allow the CF subsidiary to focus on third-party logistics services for clients like Philips Electronics, Cisco Systems, Hewlett-Packard and Circuit City. Redwood Systems is based in Alpharetta, Ga.
